Thanksgiving is almost here and I am taking time to reflect on things in my life I’m thankful for. With the change in the seasons it’s really important to listen to our bodies; taking time for more rest, spending more time with family, extra time to unwind and taking time to be grateful. Gratitude for what we have, for family and friends and for food that nourishes our body. Through my journey in health and nutrition I cannot stress enough the importance of listening to the changes your body naturally demands.
My wonderful yoga instructor and friend spoke of the energy shift in class today. Her words always resonate with me and I always leave my practice feeling connected and at peace. Living in the city, not being farmers, not being able to harvest the foods from the earth, we forget sometimes that the energy of the earth shifts. We require grounding foods and warm, comforting dishes in the fall in order to ground us. The earth becomes quite and more peaceful, we are to follow in its rhythm.
I wrote this grain free, gluten free, super delicious recipe for Thanksgiving stuffing for myWholeLife so please go over and check it out. I promise you will love it as much as I do, without the bread of a traditional stuffing but with all the amazing flavors that makes a Thanksgiving stuffing so delicious.
I wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and I hope you can take some time to slow down and reflect on what you are grateful for.
